Katherine Malpas
General Notes:
~The Visitation of Cheshire in the Year 1580, pp.. 161-162, give's John de Bird's wife's name as Katherine, and John's name as John Bird de Cherleton. It also lists their daughter Agnes married to Humphrey Hill. The rest of the pedigree matches Ormerod's, Vol. II, p. 598 & 641, with the exception that Roger Malpas is the son of William de Malpas and his mistress Beatrix de Montalt rather than his legal wife. Sources I use to build the pedgree from Sir David Malpas to Agnes Bird, wife of Humphrey Hill are: Ormerod's History of the County Palatine and City of Chester, Vol. II: 713 • "Barons of Malpas," p. 598 • "Malpas of Hampton and Bickly," p. 641 • "Egerton of Egerton," p. 626 The Visitation of Cheshire," Malpas," pp. 161-162 [source: Harl. 1424, fo. 113. Harl. 1505, fol. 177] 527
Collins's Peerage of England, Vol. IV and Visitation of Cheshire, 1580, gives her the name of Katherine and Catherine, whereas Ormerod called her Ann. 527,927
Katherine married John le Bird de Charleton. 527,713,807,927
