• Background Information. 829 According to Burke, there were two Atrop Hastang, father and son. The elder Atrop gave the canons of Mostell, in Yorkshire, to the churches of Lemington and Newbold and bestowed on the canons of Kenilworth the church of Whitmash.

• Background Information. 983 The Hastang family had their seat at Lemington, Warwickshire, which was called Lemington-Hastang. Husculf Musard enfeoffed upon on Hunfridus, who by Lesceline his wife, had Atrop de Hastang, his son, who gave to the canons of Nostel Ebor, the churches of Lemington and Newbold. Which grant Atrop his son confirmed; and bestowed the canons of Kenilworth, the church of Whitnash. Atrop was succeeded by Humphrey, his son and heir.
