• Domesday Tenant. 183 From Robert William Eyton's, Antiquities of Shropshire, Vol. IX, p. 309:
"The same Rainald holds Wieford (of the Earl), and Alcher holds it of Rainald. Sten and Wilegrip held it (in Saxon times) and were free together with this land. Here are 2˝ hides, geldable. In demesne are II ox-teams and VII Serfs; and (there are) V Villains, and one Radman, and one Frenchman with 3˝ teams."
• Domesday Tenant. 1076 Aston Eyre aquired the addition of Eyre after Alcher who appears in the Domesday Survey. Aer and Eyre are softened or corrupted froms of Alcher. The entry in the Domesday Survey reads:
"The same Rainald (Vicecomes) holds (under the Earl) Estone, and Alcher (holds it) of him. Sessi held it in the time of King Edward and was a free man. Here are II hides geldable. In demesne are three ox-teams; and six serfs, on villain, five boors and one Frenchman with two ox-teams. There is wood for 60 swine. Its former value was 30s., its present is 40s."
Alcher, either before or in 1086, had an interest in several other Manors such as Albrigton (near Shrewbury), Middleton (now Middleton Scriven), Withiford, and Harcott.
