• Background Information. 784 William, the eldest son of Sir Richard Bagot, was a Knight, and Lord of Bromley Bagot. Sir William died during the reign of Edward I, 1296, leaving by Hawisia, his wife, two sons, John and William and a daughter, Sibilla, wife of William de Sulney.

• Background Information. 1051 Sir William Bagot, Lord of Bromley Bagot, was the Sheriff of the county, 42-44 Henry III, and died during the reign of Edward I (1296). In the year 1274, this Sir William Bagot was directed by writ issued from King Edward I, together with William Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick, Roger de Clifford, prior of St. Thomas, without Stafford, and Odo de Hodenet, "On account of divers trespasses committed, in the 'Marches of Wales, against the peace, concluded between the late King, and Llewelin ap Griffin," to go to the Ford of Montgomery, on the Sunday next after Saint Philip, and Saint James (May 1st "where" the King ovserves I have Commanded Llewelin to meet you." Llewelyn, however did not obey.
