Roger was probably the younger son of Roger de Cauz, succeeded in 1202 as Roger de Duston [Chanc. Roll, 3 John, p. 84] to the Falconer serjeanty held by Roger de Cauz, father of Roger, shown by numerous entries in Liber Rubeus and Book of Fee. His grandfather Roger's hawks and falcons being mentioned under the latter county in 1155-56 [Pipe Roll, Rec. Com, p. 40]
