• Background Information. 910 Ralph d'Enycourt, the son of Gervase, was on of the two knights in attendance on Gilbert fitz Renfrid who were taken prisoner at the capture of Rochester caste, 30 Nov 1215. Ralph d'Enycourt recived a pardon from Henry III in 1217. Ralph was dead by 1228-1233, when Eleanor his widow, for the souls of "lord, Ralph de Haynecurth, and of Helewise de Lancastre," confirmed a rent of 2s. 6.d for one moiety of the vill of "Siggewich" (Segwick in Kendal), formally held by Herbert de Ellel, to the cannons of Cockersand [Cockersand Chartulary, Chetham Soc., pp. 10, 40]
