Ernulf and Emmelina had an older daughter by the name of Avelina, who occurs in 1126. She married, as her first husband, Alan Fitz Flaald, who occurs in 1101-1109, and died in 1114. Avelina married, as her second husband, Robert Fitz-Walter, who occurs in 1126.

Avelina and Alan Fitz Flaad were the parents of William Fitz Alan I, who was born about 1105 and died 1160. Willian fitz Alan married as his first wife, Isabella, sole daughter and heir to Helias de Say, Baron of Clun who died 1199. They were the parents of William Fitz Alan II, who was born circ. 1115 and died in 1210. William Fitz Alan I married for a second time to Constantia, niece of Robert de Caen, Earl of Gloucester.

Avelina married Alan Fitz Flaald Sheriff of Shropshire, son of Flaald of Dol and Unknown.³⁴⁸ (Alan Fitz Flaald Sheriff of Shropshire was born about 1078 in Dol, Bretagne and died about 1120 in Oswestry, Shropshire, England.)
