• Background Information: 141 Humphrey de Vieilles, Seigneur of Vieilles and Pont-Audemer. He was the son of Thorold, Seigneur of Pont-Audemer, who had been one of the followers of Robert I, Duke of Normandy, and his name appears in ducal charters as a witness. He founded two monasteries at Préaux, near Pont-Audemer. St. Pierre was founded for monks sometime before 1046, and the other was St. Leger for nuns, found about 1040. He married Aubreye, and he is said to have become a monk at St. Pierre-de-Préaux shortly before he died and was buried there.
