In July 1141, Alan attested, at Oxford, a Charter which the Empress Maude granted to Haghmond Abbey. He granted to Wombridge Priory half a ferdendel. He further granted nine acres in Leia to Wombridge Priory, before 1156. Both of these grants were confirmed by a Bull of Pope Urban in 1187 as grants of Alan de Donstanvill [Wombridge Chartulary, Tit. Lega Prioris, No. XIV] This Alan de Dunstanville was deceased by 1156. He left at least two sons, Walter and Alan; and a daughter named Alice who married Thomas Basset. ~Antiquities of Shropshire, Vol. II, pp. 271, 272-273
