Noted events in his life were:
• Background Information. 141 Hervey de Stafford, son and heir of Hervey Bagot. On 4 Nov 1217, he was to have his lands, as having come into the King's faith and service. On 19 Feb 1220/1, he was to have his scutage for the army of Biham. In May 1225, he was to convey the fifteenth raised in Staffordshire and Shropshire to Gloucester. On 3 Sep 1228, he was summoned to join the King at Montgomery after April, and in Sep 1230. he was in the King's service overseas. In June 1233, as one of the Barones de Marchia, he gave his son John as a hostage for his faithful service. In Jan 1233/4, Hervey was one of the knights directed to remain at Shrewsbury to guard those parts. In July 1234, he was appointed with others to conduct David, son of Llewelin, to the King. On 26 Jul 1236 he was appointed with two others to be a dictator of the truce in North Wales, and in November 1236, with others, to make and take amends for breaches of the truce.
Hervey married, in or before 1214, Pernell, daughter of William de Ferrières, 3rd Earl of Derby, by Sibyl, daughter of William de Braiose. He died before 12 May 1237, and was buried at Stone. He left a will. His wife survived him, and was buried at Stone.

Petronilla married Hervey de Stafford, son of Hervey Bagot Baron Stafford and Millicent Stafford. (Hervey de Stafford was born about 1178, died before 12 May 1237 167 and was buried in Stone, Staffordshire, England .)
