Waltheof of Allerdale was an 11th- and 12th-century Anglo-Saxon noble, lord of Allerdale in modern Cumbria. Brother of Dolfin of Carlisle and Gospatric of Dunbar, Waltheof was son of Gospatric, Earl of Northumbria. [Hamilton, Mighty Subjects, p. 28] Both Waltheof and his brother Gospatric witness Earl David's Glasgow Inquest, and Waltheof also attests some of David's charters as king of the Scots later. [Hamilton, Mighty Subjects, p. 27]
The account of Waltheof and his family in Cumbrian monastic cartularies, says that he gave land in Allerdale to his three sisters, Octreda, Gunhilda and Maud. [Hamilton, Mighty Subjects, p. 28] Waltheof had two sons and several daughters. [Hamilton, Mighty Subjects, p. 28-29] Alan (fl. 1139), succeeded to Allerdale. [Hedley, Northumberland Families, vol. i, p. 241] The other son was named Gopspatric. [Hedley, Northumberland Families, vol. i, p. 239] An Octreda, either his sister or daughter, appears to have married Donnchad mac Maíl Coluim and become mother of William fitz Duncan, mormaer of Moray. [Phythian-Adams, Land of the Cumbrians, pp. 157-58] William fitz Duncan appears to have inherited Waltheof's Allerdale territory from his mother. [Oram, David I, pp. 93-94] A definite daughter, Ethelreda, married Ranulf de Lindsay and then William de Esseville. [Barrow, Kingdom of the Scots, p. 139] Another, Gunnilda, married Uhtred of Galloway. [Hedley, Northumberland Families, vol. i, p. 241] Waltheof's partner appears to have been a woman named Sigrid or Sigarith. [Hedley, Northumberland Families, vol. i, p. 241]

Waltheof (Waldeve) had from William de Meschens, lord of Egermont, the barony of Allerdale, below Derwent, in Cumberland, and all the lands between the Coker and Derwent, besides the five towns above the Coker, viz: -Bringham, Eglesfield, Dean, Cralksothen and Clifton. His first seat was Papcastle, afterwards Cockermouth Castle. Considerable portions of William de Meschlen's grant he apportioned out amongst his relations & friends, but the bulk of it went to his children, and from them through the familes of de Fortibus, Multon, Lucy, Umfreville and Percy.

Simeon of Durham names "Dolfin, Walther and Cospatric" as the sons of Gospatrick [Simeon of Durham, p. 558]. He is named second of the three sons of Gospatrick given by Roger of Hoveden [RH I, p. 59]. A memorandum dated to (1275) records that "Earl Cospatryk formerly earl of Dunbar in Scotland had a brother Dolfin earl of Northumbarland…both…bastards", that they had "a legitimate brother Waldeve and a legitimate sister Etheldreda…of one father and one mother" [Calendar of Documents Scotland (Bain), Vol. II, 64, p. 15].
Waltheof married Sigrid. (Sigrid died after 1126.)
