Lady de Tracy

  • Marriage: Gervase de Courtenay

bullet  General Notes:

~Ancestral Roots of Certain American Colonists Who Came to America before 1700, 8th Edition, 25:28, Oliver de Tracy was possibly the grandson of William de Tracy, and son of William's daughter married to Gervase de Courtenay, who was probably closely related to Reginald de Courtenay. Gravase de Courtenay and his wife had two identifiable children, Hugh de Courtenay, who had control of his uncle Sir William de Tracy's barony of Bradninch, Devon, in the latter part of the 1190s, and William de Tracy. Besides these sons, there may have been a third son, Oliver de Tracy, father of Henry de Tracy. Olivers de Tracy's descendants differenced their Tracy arms with a label of azure which leabel is a remarkable feature of the Courtenay coat of arms. This heraldic evident suggests that Oliver was likely a son of Gervase de Courtenay and his wife (nee Tracy). [Douglas Richardson] 160
