• Background Information. 1129 Walter de Ridelisford married Amabilis, daughter of Henry Fitz Henry, son of Henry I, King of England. Walter, along with Amabilis's uncles, her newphews and the Geralds were active in Irish affairs as well as holding large grants of land there. In about 1200, Walter endowed a convent at Granny, near Castle Dermont, pro redempet-one aimæ suæ parentum, which was recognized by Pope Innocent III in May 1207 and confirmed by King John, 12 Nov 1207.
