Juan Carrasco
, his wife, María de Pareja Salas and their five children left Brihuega north of Guadalajara, Spain and moved to New Spain. We know about the Carrasco family from documents concerning their move. They had been granted permission to move on 24 May 1599. In this document Juan Carrasco was described as forty years old, medium height, thin and having an aquiline face and a lazy eye.

The Carrasco family is also described on 9 Apr 1601 when Juan Carrasco appeared before the alcalde ordinario of Trijueque, his father's hometown. María de Pareja is described as age thirty-two, medium height, with a tanned complexion. There children: Juan, age twelve, fair skinned and a mole on the side of his nose. Pedro, ten or eleven, was fair skinned and delicate. Francisco was eight and had a tanned complexion. Ysabel was fifteen or sixteen, fair skinned and delicate. Lastly, Juana was age nine with fair skin. Juan Carrasco's family received their license of passage on 2 Jun 1601.

María de Pareja's family names are given in a lawsuit record in 1586 in the Archivo de la Real Chancillería de Vallidoid. Her father was Gerónimo de Pareja. Her brother, Gerónimo II and his wife Catalina de Pastrana, may have traveled to New Spain along with María and Juan de Carrasco.
