• Background Information. 141 Robert de Welles, son and heir of William married Isabel, daughter and coheir of Adam de Periton of Ellington, Northumberland, Faxton, Northants, and Rampisham, Dorset. She was "probably" daughter of Sarah. Robert died shortly before 24 Sep 1265. His widow married for a second time after 25 Jul 1266, yet before 1269 to William de Vescy, Lord Vescy.

• Background Information. 1058 Isabel, the widow of Sir Robert de Welles, married, as her second husband, William de Vescy. In 1288, William de Vescy and his wife Isabel conveyed the manor of Faxton to John de Vescy, their son, presumably in view of his marriage with Clemence, a kinswoman of Queen Eleanor. Isabel died in 1314.
Isabel de Periton's heir by her first husband, Sir William de Welles, was their son Adam. Adam died in 1311, before his mother. He left a widow, Joan. The custody of the lands in Faxton and elsehwere belonging to Adam de Welles, and the marriage of his son and heir, Robert, aged 16 at the time of his father's death, was assigned to Gilbert de Clare, Earl of Gloucester and Hertford, on 8 Dec 1311.
