• Background Information: 252 Juan de Argüello, a soldier of Santa Fe in 1716, was a native of Zacatecas and twenty-five years of age. [DM, 1695] He was the son of Joaquin de Argüello and Juana Gutiérrez. In 1715 he married Juana Gregoria Brito. [DM, 1698] He might have come with the colonists of 1695 with his parents, or at least his mother; a sister of his seems to be a Juana de Dios Gutiérrez, natural daughter of Juana Gutiérrez of Zacatecas, who married a Cristóbal Montoya in 1716.
