• Background Information. 141 Ralph de Wilington, son and heir, held the family lands in 1242. He was appointed to tallage the royal domain in Gloucestershire, 28 April 1252; was Constable of Exeter Castle and Sheriff of Devon, 25 May 1254-April 1255; and was excused from serving on juries and in assizes, against his will, 22 January 1254/5.
Ralph de Wilington married, before 17 July 1238, Joan, daughter and heir of William de Champernon, by Eve, daughter of Rainald de Whitchurch (Albo Monasterio), of Shrivenham, Berkshire. He died between April 1255 and July 1260. Joan was living in 1284-86.
