• Background Information. 1245 The de Bois (Bosco) family can be traced to a feudal estate of Breteuil on lands other both sides of the River Risle in south Normandy. They were one of the baronial families that dominated the region. Their family seat was at Bois-Arnault in Normandy. Both Arold I de Bois and his son Arold II were active in the politics of their region.
