This Sir Richard le Boteler was the younger son of Sir William le Boteler, the brother of Sir Richard le Boteler, the Lord of Warrington. The younger Sir Richard le Boteler was granted land in 1281 from William Charleton [Legh Deeds]. He died on 24 Feb 1322. He was the founder of the House of Boteler of Merton.
