• Background Information. 779 Nicholas Leicester died in the same year as his father, leaving his wife, Mary, daughter of William Moberley, of Mobberley, co-heir of her mother, Maud, and half sister of Sir Ralph Mobberley.
Children of Nicholas and Mary were: John his heir, who served in the French wars in 1373 and again in 1380, under John of Gaunt. He married Joan, daughter of Robert Touchet, and died in 1938. He was suceeded by his son William Leicester. Ralph, m. Joan, daughter and heir of Robert Toft, of Toft, in Cheshire. He was the ancestor of the Leycesters of Toft Hall.

• Background Information. 750 Nicholas Leycester, son and heir of Roger, married Mary, daughter of William de Mobberley, and one of the sister and co-hers to Sir Raufe Mobberley, married about the year 1322. Thier issue was, son and heir, John Leycester; Raufe Leycester, younger son; and Elizabeth, the second wife of William Manwaring of Over-Peover, the elder, from whom are descended the Manwarings of Over-Peover. Elizabeth was a widow in 1364, and was living in 1404.
