• Background Information. 637 Edmund Hobart was born in Hingham, England in 1574. He first married Margaret Dewey on 1 Sep 1600, and she was the mother of all his children. To escape the restrictions and persecutions of the Established church in England, Hobart left England in his sixtieth year for North America. Along with him were his wife, and three of their children, Rebecca, Sarah and Joshua, as well a their man servant Henry Gibbs. They left England in Mar 1633 and landed at Charlestown, Massachusetts, 3 May 1633.
