Francisco Valdes, when sixteen, married Lugarda Martín at Santa Cruz on 1 Oct 1723. They had a girl, Francisca, 12 dec 1726. After Lugarda's death, Francisco married Tomasa de Benavides, by whom he had three children, two girls who died young, and a son, Alejandro, who grew up to marry Manuela Urioste but died without issue prior to 1762. This Alejandro had had some trouble as a soldier of the Santa Fe garrison in 1759.

Old Francisco registered some cattle brands in 1752 as "Francisco Valdes y Bustos."
