• Background Information. 920 The earliest records of the manor of Bold is found in a 1212 survey [Lancs. Inq. and Extents, 18]. The manor was assessed as four ploughlands and held the tegnage by a rent of 21s. 4d. yearsly by Adam son of Richard, and that Adam's great-grandfather, Tuger the Elder had formerly held it. Tuger the Elder ganted La Quick out of his demesne [ibid. loc. dit.]. Tuger was most likely living during the reign of King Stephen.
