• Background Information. 658 On 3 Dec 1659, Mary Paddock of Plymouth, Widow, sold to Stephen Wood of Plymouth, Smith, for £9 10s. "her house, garden plot, and shop situated in Plymouth aforesaid, in the South Street" and about 3 acres of upland in Newfield" bounded by the lands of Richard Sparrow and John Thompson. It was agreed she could dwell in the house until March the following year when payment was due.
It is now believed that is was Mary Holmes Paddock, the widow who married in Plymouth, 14 Mar 1651, Thomas Roberts of Duxbury, Massachusetts, rather than her daughter Mary.
