Flaín Fernández was the son of Fernando Flaínez and his wife Elvira Peláez. He married a woman Sancha, who may have been the daughter of Osorio Díaz and Sancha Sáncez. Flain married a second time to a woman of unknown parentage named Toda Fernández.
