Ponce II de Cabrera was the son of Guerau II de Cabrera and his wife Estefanía. He married twice. His first wife was Sancha Núñez who was the mother of his heir, Guerau III de Cabrera. His second wife was María Fernández de Traba, daughter of conde Fernando Pérez de Traba and his wife condesa Sancha González.
Ponce married María Fernández de Traba, daughter of Fernando Pérez de Traba and Sancha González. (María Fernández de Traba died about 1168 and was buried in Santiago de Compostela, España.)
