• Background Information. 1006 In the time of King Henry the First, William de Lovetot, who held a Barony in Huntingdonshire [Mon. Ang. Vol. 2, pp. 25, 50], and also was Lord of Sheffield, Yorkshire. He founded a Priory at Radford, near Wirksop, his principal residence in this county, to which he gave, amonst other things, all his churches, which he held of the Honor of Blyth, the Seat of Roger de Busli. His son, Richard de Luvetot had Sheffeild and Wirkshop, and all the lands on the northside Trent, Yorkshire.
