• Background Information: 252 Roque Jaramillo was married and living at Santa Cruz by 1711, when he stated that he was twenty-six years old and a native of Mexico City. In 1723, at Santa Cruz, he gave his age as thirty-eight.
Roque Jaramillo's wife was Petrona de Cárdenas, also of the 1693 colonists, who made her last will at Santa Cruz in 1767. In it she declared that she was the daughter of Andrés de Cárdenas and Juana de Avalos, and the wife of Roque Jaramillo, by whom she had fourteen children: Lorenzo, Miguel (both dead), Juan, Juana, Sebastián (dead), Manuel, Gertrudis, Francisco, José, Antonio, María, Francisca Xaviera, and two Marías (the last three dead). Two of these daughters were married, one to Domingo de Herrera, and the other to José Medina.
