17 Edward III, Thomas de Capenhurst grants to Thomas de Capenhurst his son and heir, and to Johanna, wife of the Thomas the younger & daughter of Richard Hough of Thornton-Hough, five messauges and all his lands in Capenhurst. [Harl. M.S.S.. 1424, p. 119] Seal, Gules, a chevron between three cocks Argent.

Thomas de Capenhurst, junior, had issue two daughters of whom _______ (possibly Isabell, according to predigree of Poole) brought lands in this township in marriage to Robert de Pulle, the superior lord; Maud, the other daughter married first to John Cheney of Willaston, Kt. and second to Adam del Lee of Capenhurst as found by Inq. 9 Hen. V of Christopher Hogh of Thornton Mayowe, as given at Leghton the latter being a dependant manor of the mesne manor of Capenhurst. By her first marriage her daughter and coheiress, Maud Cheney became the wife of William de Cholmondeley."

Ormerod's pedigree shows Thomas de Capenhurst as the likely son of John de Capenhurst who was living 12-13 Edw. II. This Thomas de Capenhurst was the first husband of Alice, and they were the parents of Thomas de Capenhurst, son and heir liging in 17 Edw. III, who married Joan, daughter of Richard del Hogh of Thornton Hogh & living in 17 Edw. III. The daughter of Thomas de Capenhurst and Joan del Hogh is Maud de Capenhurst whose first husband was Sir John Cheney of Willaston, Knight. The only heir Ormerod gives for Sir John Cheny & Maud de Capenhurst is their youngest daughter, Maud who married William de Cholmondeley.
