• Background Information. 1042 Thomas Wood, immigrant ancestor, born in England, settled first at Rowley, Massachusetts. There is reason to believe that Thomas Wood was the son of William Wood, of Concord, Massachusetts, who came from Matlock, England, in 1638, at the age of fifty-six years, with his nephew, Thomas Flint, and settled in Concord. William died May 14, 1671, aged eighty-nine. He is believed by some to have written the book entitled "New England Prospects." The will of this William of Concord is dated 15 Sep 1670, and was proved 20 Jun 1672. He bequeathed property to his daughter, Ruth Wheeler, and sonin-law, Thomas Wheeler; to his grandchild. Abigail Hosmer; to sons Thomas and Michael.
