Alonso de Valenzuela

Alonso de Valenzuela was the stepfather of the Gallegos children and the second husband of Violante de Terrazas, the mother of the Gallegos children. Alonso served as regidor and escribano of the Villa de Durango. He held the royal appointment of 1580 as escribano de gobernación, official scribe of the government of the kingdom of Nuev Vizcaya [1]. Valenzuela received a grant of land from Governor Francisco de Ibarra in 1584 consisting of two cabellerías de tierra and two estancias for raising cattle in the jurisdiction of the Villa de Durango [2]. He also served in both royal and local civic positions and was a regidor on the town council of the Villa de Durango in 1595. [3]
