• Background Information. 141 Walter of Salisburymarried Sibyl, daughter of Patrick de Chaources (Chaworth) and Maud, daughter of Ernulf de Hesdin. Sibyl died before her husband and was buried near the quire in Bradenstoke. He took the habit of a cannon there, and died in 1147, and was buried with his wife.
Walter and Sibyl had three sons, William, the eldest and heir; second son Patrick, who was the heir to his brother William; and Walter, a canon of Bradenstoke. His daughter, named Sibyl, married, as his second wife, John Fitz Gilbert, also known as John the Marshal.
