~ William Hunt, Dictionary of National Biography, Vol. II, pp. 1205, William Briwere, baron and judge, the son of Henry Brewer [Dugdale, Baronage], was sheriff of Devon during the latter part of the reign of Henry II, and was a justice itinerant in 1187.

• Background Information. 780 Bewer, from Brovera or Bueria, near Caen, was a family seated in Devonshire at the time of the conquest, from which descended Henry de Briwere, who help five fees in Devon, 1165. William Biwere was a great baron living during the reign of King John.
