• Background Information. 1434 There were seventeen ships in the year 1630 to bring settlers from England to Massachusetts. We don't have records telling us which of these ships or from what part of England Ezekiel Richardson came to and from, but it is safe to say that Ezekiel and his wife Susanna were in New England by July of 1630.
Ezekiel and Susanna Richardson became members of the church gathered in Charleston, 27 Aug 1630, which later became the First Church of Boston. Both were dismissed from this church, along with thirty- three others, 14 Oct 1632, to form the present First Church in Charlestown. Ezekiel was admitted a freeman of the colony 18 May 1631, which was a consequence of his church membership.
Ezekiel Richardson's name often occurs on the Charlestown records. Among his offices were positions on several committees; one of the first board of secret, chosen, 10 Feb 1634, 1637-1638; deputy of the town in the General Court, 2 Sep 1634 and in 1635; and in 1637, a lot of land was granted to him on the "Misticke Side," or Malden.
Ezekiel was a follower of Ann Hutchinson and John Wheelwright in the Antinomian Controversy of 1637, as were most of the members of the Boston church, was one of the eighty or more persons who signed the Remonstrance in Mr. Wheelwrights favor, presented to the General Court, 9 Mar 1638.
Ezekiel Richardson was among the settlers who built a new church for new town which received the name of Woburn in 1642. Ezekiel and his two brother were among the first to move to Woburn, and they all set up residences that were in close proximity of each other, which in time became know as "Richardson's Row."
Ezekiel Richardson died 21 Oct 1647. His will is dated 20 Jul 1648. It was proved 1 Jun 1649.
